GEORGE WASHINGTON - THE EIGHTH PRESIDENT

Everyone knows that George Washington was the first president of the United States of America.Or was he? Actually, John Hanson was the first president. George Washington was actually the eighth president. Hanson served under the Articles of Confederation which were adopted in 1781. Six more men served as president prior to adoption of the present constitution. Washington was the first president of the United States as organized under the present constitution.

HISTORY'S TIDBIT - Civil War surgeon Charles T. Pepper would probably not be remembered today had not a soft drink been named for him. The soft drink, of course, was Dr. Pepper.
